4 ON MEIRING - a true Karoo experience.

4 on Meiring is a large three-bedroom house set in a lovely private Karoo garden overlooking the koppies.  There are two full bathrooms, and a large open-plan lounge, dining room and kitchen.  The kitchen is fully stocked and has a gas stove.   Off the dining room, lounge and bedrooms, is a wrap-around verandah with a place to sit and eat, enjoying the views.  There is a Weber braai.

The house has heaters and electric blankets for the cold winter nights and fans for Summer.

The house does not supply Wi-Fi and television.  We encourage guests to come here and connect with their families, experience the great outdoors and spend time exploring our interesting and historical town.  The wives and mums are always grateful for the fact that their kids and husbands spend time focusing on this and not sitting in front of a television or laptop which they can do at home.  So pack your walking shoes, binoculars, and bird books and bring your bikes.

Once a booking is made, you will be sent information on all there is to see and do in Prince Albert.  Book a walking tour with Prof Sue Dean of Wolwekraal and learn about the flora and fauna, or book a ghost walk with Ailsa Tudhope and learn the history of the town.  Book a meal at one of our fabulous restaurants, or pop into a coffee shop for some of the best coffees and bakes.

We have a fabulous butchery in town, and although we do have a grocery shop, supplies of fresh produce can be a problem, and I advise bringing those with you.  Gay's Dairy supplies fresh dairy products, frozen meat and precooked meals, as well as fresh free-range eggs and other products.  At the Farmer's Market on a Saturday, one can buy limited seasonal fresh produce, bakes, pancakes, coffee and even breakfast.

Things to do in Prince Albert:

Visit the award-winning museum which includes a paleontological display.

Go hiking, birding, cycling and take guided walks.

Discover Gay's dairy with its award-winning cheeses and other dairy products.

Book a massage, beauty, yoga or pilates session.

Join Parkrun on a Saturday morning, or book a game of tennis.

Take a drive out to the fig or olive farms.

Take a look in the wonderful art gallery and other interesting shops.

Take an interesting day drive up the Swartberg Pass and into Die Hell/Gamkaspoort, or do the loop up the Swartberg Pass and back through the magnificent Meiringspoort.  Take a drive to the Karoo National Park or the Cango Caves.

These are just some of the many things to keep you busy for the duration of your stay, or you can just sit back and relax with a good book.
